Learning how to study more effectively for tests is a very important skill set to have. I have written several articles detailing tips and suggestions pertaining to better study habits. This article will do the same and provide four more proven concentration tips that will help you learn how to study effectively. It all starts with clearing everything off your desk.
Having a clean desk will greatly reduce the chance that you will get distracted by something not pertaining to your school work. Turn your computer off unless you need it and get busy clearing that desk and get focused.
Take breaks every hour, this step is important but don’t overdue it. Don’t study for twenty minuets and then take and thirty minute break. Study for forty five minutes and then take a fifteen minute break and reflect on the last study session during your break. Then pick it back up and repeat the next hour.
During those breaks get up out of your chair and do some kind of activity such as stretching or take a short walk or even jumping jacks. this will get the blood flowing and keep you sharp for your next study session.
Lastly, develop a habit of studying at the same time and place where you function best. Studies show that a action will become habit after only thirty days. Find when and where you study best and repeat that process everyday regardless if you have an exam or not. If your studying everyday exam time will be a lot less stressful and you won’t need to do what I did and pull all nighters.
Another way on how to study more effectively and get great grades is to increase your study speed. This might not be the smoking gun that you were looking for but the fact is increasing your study speed made all the difference for me.
